We are a community of library patrons, an independent, non-profit, all-volunteer organization. We cooperate with the Board of the Free Library but are a separate organization from the Library Trustees. This gives us more flexibility to acquire donations than libraries are legally allowed. Our fundraising is to supply the library with items not covered by the operational budget of the library. This is vital to the library and helps it expand services in response to community’s needs.
AS A FRIEND YOU HELP SUSTAIN AND IMPROVE OUR LIBRARY’S COMMUNITY SERVICES.
You may choose to offer only financial support, but many of us also help with our time and talents by volunteering at our book sale, program events, and other fundraisers.
Some past examples of our contributions include the security system update, the wheelchair lift in the renovated library, new shelving in the children's department, adult programing, new computers and software, the outdoor book drop, additional mobile bookshelves, STEAM Kits and children's tablets for circulation (children's department), a CD buffer/cleaner, a scanner for the 3D printer, air purifiers, new chairs, children's programming and more.
In 2022 we donated $5,000 for adult programs, $1,600 for the new streaming service Kanopy, $500 for power washing the outdoor sign and refinishing of the outdoor benches and $3,500 for updating the security system.
In 2023 we have already donated $5,000 towards adult programs.
WE HAVE DONATED OVER $130,000 IN THE LAST 10 YEARS!
Every membership fee helps!
Come to one of our meetings or email us at friends.nhslibrary@gmail.com
